Let the war of the featherweights begin! With its sight set on regaining momentum in the field of professional sports, adidas announced today the new adiZero Crazy Light in New York City. Flanked by dignitaries and guests, executives at adidas boldly proclaimed the adiZero Crazy Light to be the lightest basketball sneakers on the market. Coming in at only 9.8 ounces, or about 15% lighter to its nearest competitors, it took both adidas Innovation Team and adidas Basketball Design two years to perfect the equation. To feature breakthrough technologies – SPRINTWEB, an overlay support structure at less than 1mm in thickness, to the SPRINTFRAME, an external heel counter for motion control. In addition, tried and true TORSION SYSTEM for independent movements between forefoot and heel, along with a translucent nylon upper to reduce additional weight while provide a 360-degree breathability.
To debut with Derrick Rose and other adidas Basketball players during the NBA Playoffs starting June 3rd, the adiZero Crazy Light will come in 4 notable colorways: sharp blue/white, black/red/white, grey/white/neon green and red/white. A second roll out will take place around September 2011 with 6 team coordinating colorways. Along with its push into pro-basketball, adidas will be doubling its effort this year in the field of football and soccer as well. Plenty of news to come in the near future from the brand with 3 stripes.
