The history of New York City basketball is filled with colorful characters. One of the more distinct personalities belonged to John Strickland, the Brooklyn native whose signature phrase, “Finish your breakfast” — meaning scoring on your defender off the dribble — could be heard regularly at Dyckman. On the one-year anniversary of his passing, Nike is paying homage to the streetball legend with the release of a pair of Air Force 1s in a classic white colorway with gum sole. A custom tongue tag bearing the player’s famous catchphrase, as well as his nickname “Franchise” de-bossed at the heel, finish the look. Available at select Nike Sportswear retailers starting in October
