Even if you’re not a skateboarder, this is really cool: on Thursday, April 17th, the
Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA), is opening an exhibit focused on the history of graffiti and street art, which includes a skateable art installation; the installation was designed by skate legend Lance Mountain and artist Geoff McFetridge, and will see weekly skate session by the Nike SB team throughout the duration of the exhibition. Nike has also produced a collection of limited edition shirts for the exhibit, featuring art by Lance Mountain, Neckface, Futura and CR Stecyk III, plus the Nike SB x Geoff McFetridge Paper Dunk High – limited to 24 unique pairs, each made from an original piece of McFetride’s artwork. The sneakers, available in sizes 9, 10 and 11, will be auctioned on May 26, 2011 with a starting price of $100, and all proceeds benefit the MOCA Foundation. The skateable installation, which ties into the exciting re-emergence of performance art in pop culture, is beautifully fun, and the Geoff McFetridge Paper Dunk is an amazing shoe.
