In anticipation of the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Reebok built an ill-fated advertising campaign around American decathletes Dan O’Brien and Dave Johnson. The television commercials posed the question “Who will be the world’s greatest athlete — Dan or Dave?” Unfortunately for Reebok, the question was taken out of its hands when Dan failed to qualify for the Olympics. (His counterpart Dave would end up taking home the bronze medal.) Enough time has passed since that marketing fiasco that Reebok can delve safely back into Olympics-themed releases, and with two of its most popular retro models in a patriotic red, white and blue makeup, it doesn’t take qualifying trials to reveal that Reebok has a winner on its hands. The Reebok Pump USA Pack featuring the Insta Pump Fury and Pump Omni Lite is available now at mita sneakers.
