We have detailed images of a shoe that is both polarizing and long awaited: the retro reissue of the Air Jordan VII (7) “Bordeaux.” The shoe has had a somewhat polarizing effect on the forums, and it’s not hard to see why. It can clearly be seen as a very drab offering, with the Bordeaux red and the flat gray creating a depressing color combination. But the shoe does have hits of color in the magenta, yellow, and royal blue tongue, and as these see a release this Spring, it will be interesting to see how those tongues pop out and change the tone of the shoe. But beyond the color or lack thereof, the shoe is admirable for the nostalgia it brings, circa it’s February 1991 original release. The dead of winter, just out of the color-flash 1980′s and entering the grunge early 1990′s, the Bordeaux is like a time capsule from the transition between two eras. This is a shoe that Jordan Brand might have been tempted to brighten, in an attempt to broaden the appeal. But to their credit, color-wise it’s a faithful reproduction, in all it’s early 1990′s glory. Available sometime this year but a few pairs are now available from online retailer MarqueeSole.
