One lesson taken away from our visit to Oakley’s Military Footwear Design Program was how much of the research and development resources trickled down to general consumer products in the end. One such is from another military hardware supplier, Danner, and its Jackal II GTX. An impressive demonstration of specific know-hows coming together, the Jackal II GTX with Realtree APG HD Camo Boots, as the Danner’s tagline goes, isn’t so much a hunting boots but a stalking boots. Lined with 100% waterproof yet breathable Gore-Tex lamination, the 1000 Denier nylon upper is impervious to all that Mother Nature (and men) have to throw at it. A perfect mimicry of Spring and Fall foliage, the APG HD camouflage by Realtree create an effortless blending among the thickets. Yet, to truly ensure concealment, Danner left nothing to chance and added its camo Phantom outsole as well.
