In its bid to “wow” the crowd at this year’s BASELWORLD, luxury timepiece maker HUBLOT embarked on a world’s first. Sheathed in King Power 48mm casing of raw carbon fiber, the watch makers at HUBLOT mastered their Art of Fusion with the Cathedral Minute Repeater Tourbillon and Column Wheel Chronograph. A mouthful to say, but like onomatopoeia, the watch’s name is an exact description of its movement, or in this case, movements. With a 5-day power reserve, the chronograph housed 3 forms of Haute Horlogerie complications – 2 so-called “cathedral” forms gongs, a tourbillion and column wheel. While its complexity isn’t clearly shown, one notable difference between it and other chronograph – all of its functions are visible on the dial side. In a statement by the ever irrepressible Jean-Claude Biver, CEO of HUBLOT, who simply exclaimed “More watchmaking, more mastery, more innovation, more daring, more fusion!”, a fitting depiction of the new chronograph indeed
