Mercedes-Benz Signature Program | Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG In Gulf Livery Colorway

A notable entry to last month’s New York International Auto Show wasn’t a new model or concept vehicle. Instead, it was the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG in Gulf Livery colorway. Made legendary by the late John Wyer and his Ford GT40 (later Porsche 917) during their reign at 24 Hours of Le Mans during the 1960s, the distinctive paint job of sky blue and orange accents harked back to the team sponsor at the time, Gulf Oil. It was also the perfect segway to the new Mercedes-Benz Signature Program. Essentially a customization program, buyers of SLS AMG can select any paint colors from current as well as archival ones that trace back to some 30 years ago.
