It’s a Special Forces boot, in new colors for the Holidays… The popular Rhyolite hiker has been updated with Nike’s Special Forces sole, which incorporates kick-door ruggedness with a Free-like midsole for instep flexibility. And now under the ACG umbrella, the Rhyolite gets a style boost too, with an upper in black or toffee leather. At this point, some people might be ready for any boot that isn’t a Euro-inspired hiker, and for them, this is the anti-Diemme. Nike makes a point to ship SFB boots to APO/FPO addresses, so some of them may see combat. And the boots look combat-ready, but the look is tempered somewhat by a synthetic canvas padded collar, and embossed ACG logo. Nike is definitely employing style tactics with the SFB line – check out this Athlectics Far East version for another take. Bottom line, even if you’re not sick of the Alps Climber look, these are an attractive, solidly ACG boot. No hint of that vaguely creepy “tactical” look here. The ACG Rhyolite SFB is available now at Bodega.
