New Balance 999 by CONCEPTS

It’s probably safe to say that the rarified world of New England sailing – the stuff of WASP stereotypes – doesn’t have much overlap with the world of limited edition sneaker collaborations. But New Balance, and Boston-based Concepts have created just such a project: a version of the classic 999 runner, given a nautical theme by Concepts. The sailing aesthetic is represented by regatta flags on the tongue, and a very appropriate colorway: the washed out bone color of a yacht hull, set off by hits of royal blue and sport red, plus a bit of Nantucket Red in panels at the heel counter. The shoes release on April 16, at the 37 Brattle Street Concepts location, and will be accompanied by, and apparel capsule collection, and set of accessories including Rayban Wayfarers, and some traditional rope bracelets.
