It is no secret that Hiroki Nakamura, founder and designer of visvim, is very selective when it comes to fabrics and textiles. And his pursuit for sourcing the best fabrics gave birth to the relationship with an established Italian textile manufacturer. The heritage of this manufacturer dates back over 100 years and their archived fabrics and textiles are a testament to their achievements. Now, Nakamura have found the perfect partner to construct an original fabric from scratch.
For this project he has taken inspiration from 19th century carpet design from Tekke, a city in Afghanistan. Two methods were chosen to realize his vision. The Skagway Canvas Hi sneakers are constructed using original textile made from wool and linen, aiming to reproduce the hand woven texture of the original carpet. On the other hand, the Homer Tote L Canvas bag employs the state of the art digital printer, which prints the intricate design directly onto the linen and canvas blend. Both of these items will be available exclusively on honeyee online store by a ballot system. Orders can be placed now until February, 14th and the lucky winners will be notified there after.
